BioCon2024, BioEngine's Comprehensive Solution For The CGT Sector, Makes A Splash

On 11th April 2024, the 11th International Biomedical Technology Exhibition (BioCon2024) was successfully concluded. BioEngine presented its comprehensive solutions for serum-free culture media in the CGT field and many of its star products, which left a deep impression on the audience and attracted many delegates to stop by and exchange ideas.

On 10th April, Prof. Tan Wensong, Founder and Chairman of Biocompass, participated in the 'Quality Management and Control of CGT Life Cycle' sub-forum in the Capital Hall 1 and delivered a presentation entitled 'Cell Culture Technology in CGT'.

In his keynote speech, Prof Tan introduced the 100-year history of cell culture technology. Since its initial establishment in the early 20th century, cell culture technology has gone through a series of key milestones in its evolution and development. Starting from the birth of synthetic media, the establishment of continuous cell lines to achieve unlimited cell proliferation, the innovative breakthroughs in gene recombination and cell fusion technology, and then the successful development of personalised and highly efficient serum-free and protein-free media, it has gradually solved the problems of stability, safety and scale-up of in vitro cell culture, and has strongly pushed forward the development of cell culture from basic research to the large-scale production of biologically-based products.

Prof Tan then discussed the cell culture technology in CGT field, including cells that can be cultured in suspension (HSCs and immune cells as an example), cells that need to be cultured in adherence (MSCs as an example), and cells that can be produced by viral vectors on a large scale (293 cells as an example), and introduced the results of his research on cell culture technology in detail. Prof Tan further shared BioEngine's two high-performance products in the field of CGT, HIPP series serum-free media for lymphocytes and Celer series serum-free media for 293 cells.
