The First Annual China Cell Culture Engineering And Technology Conference Was Successfully Held

The first China Cell Culture Engineering and Technology (CCET) Academic Conference was held in Shanghai on December 15, 2021, with the support of the Chinese Society of Biological Engineering. The conference is organized by Prof. Tan Wensong's team at the State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology, and co-organized by BioEngine to promote the discipline development, scientific research, and talent cultivation in the field of cell culture engineering and technology in China, and to strengthen the cooperation and communication between industry, academia, research and application parties. The conference was opened by Prof. Tan Wensong, and Prof. Zhang Hongxiang, Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Biological Engineering, sent a message by video.

This year's conference focused on key scientific issues and engineering application technologies of biopharmaceutical R&D and industrialization of antibodies, recombinant proteins, virus vaccines, stem cells/cell therapy, etc. Top experts from universities and enterprises in the field of cell culture engineering and technology at home and abroad were invited to attend and share their cutting-edge academic and application research.

As Prof. Zhang Hongxiang mentioned in his speech, biotechnology is identified as one of the seven frontier areas of scientific and technological research in China's 14th Five-Year Plan and 2035 Visionary Goals to strengthen national strategic scientific and technological forces and enhance original and leading scientific and technological research. The first CCET Annual Academic Conference was held to build a platform for exchange and discussion between academia and industry for China's antibody, vaccine, and cell therapy industries, and to solidify the foundation for healthy and rapid development of the industry.

As the initiator of the annual academic conference, Prof. Tan Wensong shared the initial intention of holding the annual conference on cell culture engineering and technology in China. He said that the annual cell culture engineering conferences were established in Europe, the United States, and Japan as early as the 1980s, providing a good communication platform for the global cell culture engineering academic and industrial communities. It not only focuses on key scientific issues and engineering application technologies in cell culture, but also builds a platform for communication and discussion between domestic academia and industry, promotes interaction and cooperation between industry, academia, research, and application, and also aims directly at the international frontier, participates in international exchange, and enhances the development of disciplines, scientific research and personnel training.
